Migration
Most butterflies don't migrate, but a few species do. These include the Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus), which travels enormous distances from Canada and the northern United States south to Mexico. There the Monarchs roost in huge numbers over the winter, flying north again in the spring.

How Big is a Birdwing Butterfly?
Birdwings are the rarest of all butterflies, and arguably the most spectacular. To see a real one, look at the conservation panel in the Butterfly exhibit on the second floor off the Roosevelt Rotunda.
