Just What Is a Butterfly Farm?

A butterfly farm is a piece of land dedicated to raising a spectacular and unusual cash crop: various species of these beautiful, delicate insects. Farms take various shapes, and farming is done in different ways. On a farm the insects go through their entire life cycle in captivity. These farms provide protective control over the stock and, with adequate climate control, can be located almost anywhere. Wild stock must be introduced periodically to avoid inbreeding.
